Ipswich Town complete signing of Reece Brown

Ipswich Town have completed the loan signing of Manchester United defender Reece Brown, on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who is the younger brother of Sunderland star, Wes, was due to spend this campaign on loan at League One Coventry, but was recalled by the Red Devils in January, following a lack of opportunities at the Ricoh Arena.

Brown, who has also had loan spells at Oldham, Doncaster and Bradford, will wear the number 21 shirt during his time at Portman Road.

“This is a big challenge for me and I’m excited to be signing for Ipswich,” said Brown.

“It’s a big club with great facilities and I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting started.

“I’ve played here once before - in an U15 Academy showcase game for United - so it’s nice to be back here again and I’m ready to try and prove myself at Ipswich.

“I’m still only 21 and getting experience at a Championship club like Ipswich is good for me and it’s all part of my education.”

  • Truly bizarre. The only rational explanation is that Yorkshire Jewell cannot count up to five.

  • Yet another loanee wanabee signed by super clown mccarthy and he is a defender??? Think mccarthy has lost the plot big time, the so called attack has scored 34 goals and alot of those penalties and deflections and are the lowest scorers in the championship!!! And he signs a defender who has failed miserably at 10 lower placed teams already!!! Get the men in white coats ready lol

  • We don't need another defender. I have no idea what Mundane Mick is playing at but if we go down it will be signings like this and his band of non-scoring strikers and non-creating midfielders to blame.

  • Bit of a strange signing although I have heard he can play midfield. I was against McCarthy coming here, he certainly wasn't my choice but he really has done a great job with our defence. Can't believe you lot thought our football was going to be anything but boring considering mm's style of football resembles magnolia wherever he has managed. But I am going to give him the benefit if the dought as staying in this league is not going to be pretty over the next few games. Next season hopefully he can be more positive in his forward play...free flowing which is the Ipswich way. A couple of pacey wingers are needed (moses-can't remember last name from Leyton Orient) would be ideal.
