COLCHESTER United boss Joe Dunne slammed his team’s performance following this afternoon’s dismal 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Tranmere Rovers.

The U’s were blown away by goals from Max Power and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro in the first-half, and then second-half efforts by Ash Taylor, Cole Stockton and Michael O’Halloran (penalty).

The U’s sole reply came from Magnus Okuonghae, who had netted a 28th minute equaliser.

“It’s hard to take,” admitted Dunne.

“It’s very disappointing for us in the changing room, and we need to respond quickly on Tuesday (against Yeovil).

“I thought the goals we conceded were very, very poor, and we were second best all over the pitch.

“We didn’t deserve anything today. Basic errors have cost us.

“I told the players what I thought, after the game, and I will not accept another performance like this.

“It has to be the last time we play like that.

“That’s the first time we’ve looked like a bottom four team, I admit that,” added Dunne.

The U’s stay fourth-form-bottom.
