JOHN-Joe O’Toole is considering his future beyond this month, following a successful first three weeks on loan at Bristol Rovers.
Certainly, Colchester United boss Joe Dunne is not planning a quick recall for O’Toole, despite the battling midfielder making such a big impact at League Two strugglers Rovers.
Dunne confirmed: “John-Joe is not going to get that regular football with me at the moment.
“We try and play a certain way, and John-Joe has been working hard to play in that style of play when we train.
“He’s got another year with us, he’s doing fine, and he’s fine where he is (at Bristol Rovers),” added Dunne.
Rovers boss John Ward, who was Dunne’s predecessor at Colchester until his September dismissal, has revealed that he is keen to keep O’Toole beyond his current loan deal, which expires at the end of this month.
And O’Toole himself revealed: “I’ll have to wait and see what happens, because it is quite a big decision to make.
“You want to be playing at the highest level you can for as long as you can, but you also need to be playing regular games. I’ll weigh it up and see what happens,” added O’Toole.
Ex-Watford O’Toole has so far started three games for Rovers, scoring in their last outing, a 3-0 win at Fleetwood Town.
