Chloe Peck, 13, from Stowmarket and Stephanie Sore, 11, from Lakenheath, clinched first and second respectively in the “Club 2000” 2011 Honda Cadet Karting Championship at Red Lodge Kart Club, between Newmarket and Mildenhall, despite being the only girls in their class.

In addition to that, Stephanie’s older sister, Kathleen, 13, finished fourth in the 60cc two-stroke cadet class.

Chloe and Stephanie have both been racing at the Red Lodge track since 2009 and in 2010, Stephanie replicated her second place finish in the championship with Chloe finishing third.

Honda Cadet karts are powered by race-prepared 160cc four-stroke engines with top speeds of 50 mph.

“I am really proud of the two girls. They were the only girls in the section and were up against all the boys there,” said Chloe’s dad, Gary.

“It was not that much of a surprise to me though when all three girls did well as they are all very determined.”

This season saw Chloe get off to a flying start, the youngster earning three out of four race wins to cement an early lead in the championship.

Chloe retained this lead until July by which time Stephanie had raced her way up the leader board to take the lead.

With five rounds to go, the season became very exciting with thrilling racing and saw both girls gaining and losing points on each other.

The championship winner was not decided until the very last race of the year with Chloe holding her nerve to clinch the championship by a slender eight points over Stephanie in second place.

‘Club 2000’ meetings for owner drivers are held on the first Saturday of each month and the championship runs throughout the whole year.

The 2012 season will see the duo back at Red Lodge with Stephanie hoping to go one step further in the Honda Championship, while Chloe will spend the campaign testing a 100cc two-stroke Junior TKM kart.

Competitors in this section are aged up to 17 and the talented teenager is hoping to save enough money to race one in the 2013 season.

Kathleen, meanwhile, is set to race in the twin-engined Junior Pro-kart class where she is expected to be a front runner.
