  • Exactly how much do we pay the England Manager for all his very hard work? (Hmmm). Is it more than a nurse or care worker or policeman or doctor? I know the answer, of course: He gets about £3 million a year and received a £1 million bonus for getting England to the World Cup (i.e £1 million for him and embarrassment for England). So he is 'worth' 100 times a Police Officer? 300 times a care worker? I don't think so. Pay the England manager £100,000 per year and get someone who loves football, loves his country but is not doing it for the money. The crazy situation of astronomical salaries for certain (often cushy) jobs needs to stop. We pay those who do the MOST DIFFICULT jobs the LEAST AMOUNT; maybe history will judge us as tunnel-vision fools.

  • Shocking - this team is going to be a major embarrassment, we aren't even going to make it past the group stages. Roy knows this, the press knows this! We all know this... historically its always been "can we make it to the semi-finals?" but now its "can we be lucky enough to get beyond the group stages"? Not an exciting prospect. Obviously, Roy is thinking about the more experienced players being unable to hack the climate in Rio for so long, so the younger team seems logical in that sense, except I think most are lacking on the international experience front... which is rather important in the world cup! Roy is already feeling the heat and all he had to do is name the team (of course more behind the scenes)... just wait until the world cup begins... he might end up being sacked by the end of it.

  • Ruddy's ok, but the two reserve keeps are as good or better. Just Hodgsons preference really isnt it. Obviously Hart is going to start. Though why double Premier League winner Richard Wright isn't in the squad is beyond me!! :o)

  • That might be the case Johnthebap, but believe it or not there was a time when few had heard of the likes of Beckham, Rooney, Lineker, Gascoigne, Moore, Charlton etc, etc

  • This is less an 'Who's Who' of English football as a "Who?"

  • I agree, these younger lads are our future, so lets get that future started.

  • As a footballer Ashley Cole has been the best left back in the world, and if Hodgson's reasoning in not including him in the squad is valid, then how come Lampard isn't also left out? Baines should be first choice, but if he gets injured then will an 18 year old with no England experience be a suitable replacement. That said, it is good to see younger players in the squad, and a quarter final finish will be a success this time rather than a failure.

  • Oh and chavs, leave Becks alone let him have a peaceful meal, instead of posting embarassing selfieswith him. I would love to read his mind whilst you are standing there with food stuck to your teeth. Have some class, wait till he has had his meal, then politely say hello and leave. People anger me with this crazy fbook and twitter rubbish grrrrrr

  • Ruddy is a quality player and should be there. He can't help his teams bad season. I expect that if he right manager is found they will bounce back up. I as all real town fans secretly admit, they are more organised than us and we inside always expect to lose to them. Good luck Norwich , from one of the true football fans at town, not one of the mindless hooligans.
