Ipswich Town fans have vented their fury at a tweet from former British boxing champion and professional footballer, Curtis Woodhouse.
Woodhouse, (@curtiswoodhous8) now currently in football management at Bridlington Town, tweeted on Saturday night: ‘Thank god Ipswich Town hounded out big Mick, what a mess they would be in if they kept him eh?’
Ipswich are currently bottom of the Championship with no win under new boss Paul Hurst.
Many people outside Suffolk were chiding Ipswich fans when Mick McCarthy left the club last season to ‘be careful what they wish for’.
Those remarks then and Woodhouse’s ‘dig’ now has left many Town fans incandescent with rage over what they see as ‘outsiders’ opionionating on the football they have been watching over the past few seasons.
Indeed, some Town fans pointed out that apart from the fact Woodhouse, like many others, probably hadn’t seen much, if any, of Town’s games under McCarthy. Woodhouse is also, like Hurst, a young up-and-coming English manager trying to make his way in the game.
Hurst once managed at non-league.
Hurst and the Blues will be looking for their first win of the season on Sunday in the East Anglian Derby against Norwich at Portman Road. A win for the Blues would see them leapfrog above their 18th-placed Norfolk rivals.
