CHARLTON Athletic are believed to have had a bid accepted for Colchester United midfielder, Anthony Wordsworth.


Wordsworth’s contract expires this summer, when he would be available on a free transfer, so at least the Essex club will receive a fee for their talisman midfield maestro if he was to leave during this January transfer window.

Ipswich Town had been interested in signing Wordsworth earlier in the month.

U’s boss Joe Dunne confirmed last week that Town had been linked with his occasional skipper, but it now looks as though the 24-year-old will be going to The Valley rather than Portman Road.
