Leiston Middle School pancake races in February 1978. Do you recognise anyone?

Today as we mark Shrove Tuesday and the last day before Lent, we have dug into our archives of pancake day photos.

Here we share a selection from the 1970s, 80s, 90s and the 00s, showing crepes pilled high with cream, flippers running along the street in Mendlesham and children whisking up batter.

Are you in any of our photos? Share your memories below.

If you are making pancakes today, don’t forget to share your photos by adding #Suffolk to your tweets and instagram posts. Will you be adding banana and chocolate, lemon and sugar or do you prefer cheese and ham, French style.

Our photographers will be out covering pancake races again today, so check back later for photos and video.
