Leading actors in a Suffolk school’s production of a hit wartime musical had a “wonderful experience” dressing up in authentic military uniforms for a publicity photo shoot.
Students at Orwell Park School in Nacton were invited to visit the personal museum of Rod Scott, chairman of the Desert Rats Association, in preparation for their production of Oh! What a Lovely War.
The young performers made use of Mr Scott’s collection of First World War uniforms and nursing attire to pose for pictures by Ted Blackbrow, the school photographer. “The finished posters are certainly very eye catching and the pupils are hoping for sell-out audiences,” said Mr Blackbrow.
The students also gained a greater insight into the life of soldiers during the war when they were invited to hold some decommissioned weapons.
The school’s two performances on February 13 and 14 will be raising funds for military charities.
