Fresh from their secret Glastonbury gig, Elbow were in Suffolk (well, nearly) tonight and it was magnificent.

Their unique sound creates an unusual calmness among any audience, and with a slightly older crowd at High Lodge, in Thetford Forest there was a real relaxed atmosphere throughout.

The set list jumped through their various albums, saving the highlight - One Day Like This - until the end.

Guy Garvey’s voice was crystal clear throughout, perhaps a result of all the fresh East Anglian air he was inhaling.

He is a clear professional, leading the band and the audience in an effortless manner, which is quite mesmerising to watch.

The Forest Live concerts are performed in the glade at High Lodge and the sounds travels beautifully between the trees.

As the night went on and darkness fell, the AV team stepped up the light show to build up to the crescendo of the night - the encore.

Elbow returned to the stage with crowd pleasers Lippy Kids and Grounds For Divorce. A good choice to round off a successful first night of live music.

Forest Live continues throughout the weekend, with Clean Bandit rounding off the four-night series on Sunday, July 2.

The weather always seems to catch you out at these open-air concerts, but the dip in temperatures this week it appears people were more prepared than usual with blankets, waterproofs and boots all in abundance - don’t forget yours if you are going to Thetford this weekend.
