The eighth annual One Big Multicultural Festival will be held on Sunday September 2 in Ipswich’s Alexandra Park.

The event celebrates the diverse culture of both Ipswich and Suffolk, attracting over 8,000 visitors each year.

Regent Panto star, and BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Wayne Bavin will gain be hosting the festival which is organised by the Bangladeshi Support Centre (BSC) a charity who provide help and support for those who face culture discriminated.

Boshor Ali, the BSC chair and the event organiser said: “This year’s multicultural event will have a large central stage playing host to performers from around the world including, West Africa, China and India.

“There is also a children’s fun fair, side stalls and plenty of tempting food stalls all around the park. The event attracts people from the many difficult cultures who live and work in and around Ipswich.”

The event is supported by the Arts Council England as well as local organisations including the Ipswich Star, Ipswich Borough Council, Radio suffolk and the University of Suffolk.

The final line up consists of Joyita Chowdhury who will be performing Bengali and Indian Music, local band JS and the Lockerbillies, North Indian musicians Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band, singer Shorif and a Chinese Dance Group.

There will also be a market bazaar, a five-a-side football tournament as well as a demonstration Kabaddi – the national game of Bangladesh and a bouncy castle.

Entrance to the park is completely free for the whole family with live entertainment starting on stage from 12 noon.
