WEST Suffolk-based building company Bennett Homes has reported a 10% increase in sales for 2012.

And Edward Parker, managing director at Bennett Homes, which has its headquarters at Nowton, near Bury St Edmunds, is also optimistic about the next 12 months.

He said: “2012 was a good year for Bennett Homes, during which we increased our number of sales by 10% and won the House Builder of the Year Award from the National Federation of Builders.

“2013 has started well, with more reservations than last January and more forward sales for completion during the year. I am also hopeful that mortgage availability – which continues to be a challenge – will improve slowly during the year.”

He added: “Even in challenging times, there is no doubt that buyers still appreciate the formula we offer – high quality contemporary homes, traditionally-built and located in attractive market towns with good local amenities.

“We have also seen a strong demand for bungalows among our active retiree customers and look forward to more first time buyers returning to the market as the mortgage situation improves.”

The company is planning to launch several new additions to its portfolio of developments shortly.

These include: Woodland Vale at Croxton, in Norfolk, a low-density development comprising 11 high specification bungalows, houses and chalets, and Maltsters’ Yard at Eye, Suffolk where an age-restricted development will centre around an impressive Victorian courtyard garden.

Mr Parker said: “Offering the right product in a good location is definitely the key to ensuring that we not only meet but surpass our buyers’ expectations.

“During 2012 we have updated our home layouts, with more open interiors to meet contemporary lifestyles and also upgraded kitchens with the latest integrated appliances and upstands and bathrooms with rainfall showers and stylish furniture.”
