Essex-based Healthcare Homes Group has acquired the Haughgate House Nursing Home in Woodbridge, bringing its portfolio of residential properties to 36.

Healthcare Homes, which has its head office at Ardleigh, near Colchester, and also includes the Manorcourt Homecare business, has purchased Haughgate House for an undisclosed sum from former owners Marion and Mark Carter, who are moving on to new ventures.

The home, which is registered to provide nursing care for up to 31 older people, currently has a “Good” rating from the Care Quality Commission in all areas of inspection.

Gordon Cochrane, chief executive of Healthcare Homes, said: “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of Haughgate House Nursing Home as it really has an excellent reputation in the local area for delivering high quality nursing care, in a lovely setting.

“We look forward to working with the existing team to continue delivering a quality service to people from across the Woodbridge area.”

Helen Gidlow, the group’s chief operating officer, added: “Working as part of a larger group will provide many benefits to Haughgate House’s residents and staff, yet we would also like to provide assurances that the care they receive will remain steady and consistent.

“Everyone at the home would also like to extend their thanks and best wishes to Marion and Mark Carter for their future endeavours.”

Healthcare Homes, which was established in 2005, has residential and nursing care homes in 12 counties across East Anglia and the South of England, with registration for more than 1,800 residents.

The Manorcourt division has 16 homecare branches which together undertake more than 1.5m visits a year to people requiring home-based support, including live-in care.

In total, the group employs more than 3,000 people.
