The business called Hague has been set up by Angus and Rory Hague from Ipswich, who started their company last year and have recently launched their first product.

Angus, 26, currently works in the furniture/homewares industry in Vietnam, while Rory, 24, is employed in the property sector in Suffolk. Hague is a sideline that they hope to grow over time.

“We started Hague because we felt premium electronics shouldn’t cost the earth,” said Angus.

“To provide customers with premium electronics at fair prices, we decided to sell directly to the customer online. Taking this approach enables us to cut out the majority of the distributor markup and excessive retail markup, and so partner with the same factories as other premium electronics brands, and use the best quality components.”

The brothers, who keep in touch over video calls, have partnered with a manufacturer in China to make their products and say a key value of the business is being transparent with customers about how and where their products are made.

Their first product is called The Cable: an iPhone/iPad/iPod charging and syncing cable, which retails for £15 and has a limited lifetime guarantee.

“People can buy a cheap cable for £1 but it will break within a week,” said Rory.

“Our aim it to build a good quality brand that people trust - we realise it might take a while to get there.”

Products the pair have planned for the future include a cable for Android phones as well as headphones and battery power packs.

Rory added: “We’ve made a few sales since we launched the Cable in the summer - mainly from friends and family - but we hope to sell more as we grow our experience of marketing on social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram.
