The five Norfolk and Suffolk branches of Swinton Insurance have been spared from closure, following a company review.
The insurer announced in April it was looking to close up to 84 of its 194 branches and a Norwich call centre, putting up to 900 jobs at risk.
But the company has now confirmed the high-street branches in Norwich, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft will not be among the closures.
The future of the 180 jobs at the Rosary Road call centre in Norwich remains unresolved, with talks understood to be taking place with a third party interested in taking it on and keeping the staff.
Swinton Insurance said the closure programme had been prompted by changes in customer demand, with more people using telephone and online services instead of buying insurance products in person. It said it would be extending its call centre capabilities at its Manchester headquarters.
