Rainham rider took part in the meet at Donnington Park over Easter weekend

Rainham’s Rob Guiver had a testing time during the first British Superbike meeting of the season at Donnington Park over the Easter weekend.

Guiver rode a Ducati bike for Hyside Motorcycles of Romford in the Ducati Tri-Options Cup race meeting.

With the Rainham racer still recovering from an accident at Brands Hatch in 2017, the conditions for his comeback were not the best, with heavy rain and low temperatures making the track very slippery.

In practice on a wet track, Guiver managed to set a good time which put him in second place.

The Rainham racer qualified in seventh place, which put him on the third row of the grid for race one.

With a dry track for race one, Guiver got off the line to a good start and he soon moved into sixth place.

On the next lap, the Rainham rider made his way to fifth, before moving into fourth by the end of the third lap.

Guiver held off the chasing pack until the seventh lap, when he dropped back to fifth, where he would eventually finish the race.

For race two, the rain came down which made for difficult conditions for all in action, including the Rainham racer.

Guiver struggled early on and soon dropped down to 14th place after a difficult start to race two.

The Rainham rider continued to struggle with the conditions as the race wore on and eventuallly finished in 19th.

Although the performance was not what Guiver would have wanted, there were plenty of positives to take away from the meeting.

The Rainham racer had shown in race one that he had not lost his ability to compete at the front and had come through what must have been a very tense experience after his accident last year.

Guiver finished both races under very challenging conditions and will no doubt be challenging at the sharp end of the field in subsequent races in the coming weeks.

And with summer fast approaching, the Rainham rider will hope to have seen the back of the wet weather he endured over the Easter weekend.
