A Kesgrave-based construction and demolition company has admitted charges of depositing soil in an east Suffolk beauty spot, but says that there are mitigating circumstances.
Nicholls Ltd, trading as Tippers R Us, based at Sinks Pit in Kesgrave, has indicated a guilty plea for two charges brought by the Environment Agency.
The charges concern the company depositing a quantity of soils without an environmental permit at The Anchorage and Hill Farm in Iken, near Aldeburgh, between April 2016 and October 2018.
The village is known as an idyllic retreat on the Alde Estuary.
The company indicated a plea of guilty on December 12 and the case has been committed to Ipswich Crown Court.
A spokesperson for Tippers R Us confirmed the court case was ongoing.
The spokesperson said: “Nicholls Limited is engaged in ongoing litigation with the Environment Agency.
"We have indicated a guilty plea on a basis, with the expectation that we will be able to present strong mitigating circumstances during the legal process.”
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency added that the court case is still in its early stages and it was unable to provide a comment.
The sentencing hearing has been listed to start on July 22 at Ipswich Crown Court sitting at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
