A disused car park in a west Suffolk town has gone on the market for £450,000.

The former Mildenhall Road Co-op car park in Bury St Edmunds is currently being marketed by Birchall Steel.

The Co-op announced that the shop would close down last year

Speaking at the time, a spokesman for Co-op said: "Like all retailers, Co-op regularly reviews all of its sites and decisions regarding any store are only taken after careful consideration.

"Colleagues have been informed, and are being fully supported and, we would like to thank the community for its support of this store over the years.”

The store ceased trading on August 19 following the expiry of its lease.

According to Birchall Steel, there is room for more than 100 vehicles inside the car park, which has potential for a wide variety of uses or redevelopment.

A spokesman for Birchall Steel said: "Mildenhall Road is a mixed-use area which has seen considerable development in recent years including Marham Park, a major new community covering some sixty-five acres."
