A fundraising group from Bury St Edmunds has donated 50 sleeping bags to rough sleepers in the town following a request from a homeless volunteer organisation.

Bury St Edmunds Round Table received the request from Sunday Suppers – a group of volunteers led by Dottie Mistry, who provide hot meals on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings from a stall in front of Moyse’s Hall Museum.

The town’s round table group were able to supply the Trespass sleeping bags from funds raised at the Abbey Gardens fireworks display and their Santa Sleigh event.

Robin Cutler, chairman of Bury St Edmunds Round Table, said: “What Dottie and her team of volunteers are doing is remarkable and potentially life changing for the members of our community that need our help the most.

“We are delighted to be able to play a small part in helping this fantastic cause, I have seen with my own eyes the difference Sunday Suppers are making to the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our community and it is truly humbling.”
