The Met Office issued a further yellow weather warning for ice for this morning saying it could become treacherous on the region’s roads and pavements.

A spokesman added: “Some injuries are possible from slips and falls on icy surfaces and there will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads and cycle paths.”

A few Suffolk and north Essex schools have had to close as a result of the snow.
