A static caravan has been destroyed in a fire in Jaywick which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Fire crews were called to the blaze, in Alvis Avenue, at around 1.10am in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, November 11.

Two fire engines, both from Clacton, attended the incident.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: On arrival, crews reported the caravan was 100% alight and a large amount of smoke was in the surrounding area.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire by 1.59am and used thermal imaging cameras to check for remaining hotspots before leaving the scene.

“The caravan has been completely destroyed in the fire.”

He added that the cause of the fire has been recorded as deliberate.
