Clacton’s Thing-me-Bobs’ discount store is to close as part of a shake-up by its parent company in the town.

The store, on West Avenue, is closing for the last time on Saturday – December 23 – as part of redevelopment of the QD store in Rosemary Road which is just a short walk away.

Both stores are part of the QD Group and the Rosemary Road store is due to be refurbished during 2018.

Operations manager for both stores Chris Meale said: “We’re really sorry we’re leaving the West Avenue store, but the lease expires just before Christmas, access to the store is not as good as we would like it to be and it has not been trading profitably for us. However, we’re delighted to be transferring the business to the existing QD store where we have exciting plans for 2018.”

Manager of the QD store in Clacton, Matt Atkins, added: “The refurbished QD stores that have already been completed look amazing and they are proving hugely popular with our customers.
