A dance-off at Braintree’s Sonnet Care Homes’ summer fete was the highlight of the day.
The summer fete took place last Saturday, at the New Deanery and St Mary’s Court residential care home, located in Bocking.
The dance-off was between four ‘Dancing Grannies’ and five ‘Honey G’s’. The dancers were made up of the homes’ directors and management team, who had been practising their moves in secret for months.
They surprised everyone when they took their final bow and pulled off their wigs.
Chief executive Julia Clinton said: “My thanks to Cameron Whitehouse, who not only organised the choreography and music but gave up a great deal of his time teaching us the moves.”
The fete entertained residents and their families while raising £358 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Almost 200 people attended the day and activities manager Jo Whitehhouse was very happy with how it went.
She said: “The fete was a huge success, the atmosphere was buzzing and so well attended. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this event so special. It was lovely to see so many relatives and families enjoying themselves.”
