A free day of family activities which celebrate Suffolk’s geology and archaelogy will take place at Brandon Country Park.

The park will host the event alongside Suffolk County Council’s Archaeology Service, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, Suffolk Archaeology, The Portable Antiquities Scheme and GeoSuffolk.

Families will get the chance to handle real archaeological finds as well as take part in a number of activities including medieval purse making, face painting, and coil clay pot making.

Councillor Matthew Hicks, cabinet member for environment, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the rich archaeological and natural heritage of the Brandon area as part of the national Festival of Archaeology.

“This hands-on, activity packed event will give families a chance to see first-hand the great work that we do.”

The event will run from 10am until 3pm on Wednesday, July 26, at Brandon Country Park and is part of this year’s Festival of Archaeology 2017.
