The Class A drugs had been concealed inside the balls of 11 roll-on deodorants sent to the UK in freight from Jamaica.

In total 240g of the drug were recovered from the deodorants with an estimated street value of £12,000.

Dean Milton, Border Force assistant director at Stansted Airport, said: “This was an extremely intricate concealment and the first of its type that we’ve seen at Stansted.

“The smugglers had gone to tremendous lengths to disguise the drugs, even to the extent of including a false till receipt for the deodorants.

“Smugglers will always be developing new and more elaborate methods to try to get their illegal products into the UK and it is the job of Border Force to stay one step ahead.”

The detection was made last month and referred to the National Crime Agency for further investigation.
