Youngsters from Sir Martin Frobisher Academy in Jaywick Sands have finished their year on a high after having a collection of work published.

The book is part of The Junior Warden Project, in partnership with the Jaywick Sands Community Forum, and is aimed at encouraging children to get involved with their community and promote active citizenship.

The work – titled Inspired to be in This World – is a collection of pictures, poems and writings by the Year Six pupils alongside author Anita Belli, and reflects differences in culture across London, Africa, India and China.

Teresa Watson, Tendring District Council’s Jaywick Sands Neighbourhood Manager, said: “The children displayed a positive attitude of respect and understanding towards other cultures and learned that each culture had something in common, that we are not so different from each other and that we are all from the same planet.”

The pupils were presented with certificates by the Pearly Queen of Bermondsey and Chelsea, Dee Russell, for their efforts and the book is available to buy from Amazon on July 21.
