Six people have been arrested today across Essex and Suffolk in connection with the murder of a Colchester man.

James Attfield was found fatally injured with more than 100 stab wounds close to Lower Castle Park off Guildford Road, Colchester, at around 6am on Saturday March 29.

Efforts to save him failed and he died a short time later.

Today six people have been arrested at homes in Colchester, Ipswich and Southend.

A man and a woman, both aged 27, from Colchester, were on police bail having been previously arrested in connection with the murder and they have been re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

In addition a 57-year-old man from Colchester, a 25-year-old woman from Southend and an 18-year-old man of no fixed address have all been arrested on suspicion of murder.

An Ipswich woman, aged 23, has also been arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

All six are currently being questioned by detectives at police stations across the two counties, and a number of homes have also been searched.

Two other men, both aged 33 and of no fixed address, remain on police bail pending further enquiries until Wednesday September 17 after also having been arrested in connection with James Attfield’s murder.
