A Suffolk film company has found the ‘Picture Perfect’ location to shoot a new action thriller – set to feature a crowd of extras from the local area.

As they prepare to call ‘action’ on their latest feature, Jeet Thakrar and Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar think Bentwaters Parks, near Woodbridge, can comfortably sit alongside the UK’s top film sites.

It comes as Bentwaters Parks plans to turn another 12 acres of the old air base into studios – a year after the county council gave London-based Film Fixer a contract to work with companies wanting to shoot in Suffolk.

The husband and wife production team set up ‘Picture Perfect’ after moving from Essex.

With the working title Escape, the new film promises ‘high-octane action’ throughout.

Directed by Nicholas Winter, and loosely inspired by clashes between Russian and English football fans at Euro 2016, it tells the story of five kidnapped friends’ struggle for freedom.

Jeet and Lucinda are on the verge of securing three TV names to fill roles – and have enlisted a stunt team that contributed to the Prince of Persia movie.

“Working together is the best arrangement we could ever hope for,” said Jeet.

“We moved just before shooting our first film as Picture Perfect (Hooligan Legacy) and began to put out feelers for connections, before discovering a wonderful space at Bentwaters and learning it had been used by other crews.

“It’s perfect for us. We’re in a different ballpark to Hollywood studios, but pride ourselves on being creative on a budget.”

Lucinda, who has dozens of acting and production credits to her name, including Mackenzie Crook’s locally shot Detectorists, said: “This is our first film made solely in Suffolk – and we now hope to make them all here.

“London will always be a hub for the industry, and we’ll be bringing a full crew from there, but if we can manage outside that environment, why not go for it?

“We have heads of departments on board, but will be looking for assistants in areas like make-up and costume. We’re also looking for a big crowd – all aged 18-40, male or female, who’ll be credited and invited to a premiere, which we’re hoping to hold in Suffolk.”

Escape shoots from June 5-17. About 25 background artists are needed for a scene in one of three warehouses being used. Just email a photo and brief description.
