A Suffolk branch of the Rotary Club has won the organisation’s top award for community projects.
Framlingham Rotary Club’s Hour Community project scooped the Community Service Cup – beating 1,800 clubs in Britain and Ireland.
Nick Corke and Tony Catesby received the cup and a certificate from Jennifer Jones, president of Rotary International, at a national conference in Manchester.
Mr Corke thanked the project’s 40 volunteers for giving hundreds of hours of their time in its five years.
He said: “They have done gardening, ironing, dog walking, shopping, all sorts of jobs around the house and much more besides. Our two, wheel chair accessible vehicles have been busy taking people to hospitals, doctors, dentists, and the vets, as well as outings for various groups.”
