Fun, laughter and a sense of community were the order of the day at the annual Mendlesham Community Council Street Fayre.

Today’s event – sponsored by the East Anglian Daily Times - was estimated to have brought around 3,000-4,000 people out to enjoy all there was on offer.

Among the attractions were street entertainers, The Mad Hare Marching Band, Stowmarket Boys Brigade Band, East Suffolk Morris Men, and the Urban Allstars Majorettes.

There were also stalls galore at the craft show inside the village community centre.

Angela Pickup, one of the organisers of the fayre, said she was really pleased with how the day went.

Mrs Pickup added: “I think it is so nice for the village. Some of these little events that go on in Suffolk villages are disappearing.

“We only have a small committee but we work very hard, and will continue to work very hard, to keep putting the fayre on.

“I think everybody who came along had a smile on their face, and were laughing and joking. It was a very good atmosphere.”
