AN INNOVATIVE west Suffolk community association is holding its first ever pantomime this weekend.
The Southgate Community Partnership, in Bury St Edmunds, was a year old last October and since its formation has hosted a series of successful events at the Southgate Community Centre.
The icing on the first birthday cake will be happening on stage at 2pm and 7pm, this Saturday, with a cast of all ages from the Southgate, Nowton and Hardwick community performing the panto Cinderella.
Producer/director Tim Sheppard describes the show as a story of love and a lost shoe with jokes, songs and fun starring Cinderella, two ugly sisters and some funny fellas.
A real gathering of community spirit can be seen in a cast that includes the Rev Peter Gibson, from the local Southgate Church, and ward borough councillor Sarah Stamp.
The ages of the chorus range from the youngest aged six to the most senior, who is 81.
Cinderella is played by 15-year-old Emily Mason and 13-year-old Callum Ewing is in charge of lighting and stage management.
