DELIGHTED audiences were transported back to 1920s New York and the shadowy world of gangsters, molls, hoodlums and Tommy guns.

Youngsters from Brandeston Hall - the preparatory school for Framlingham College - recently performed Bugsy Malone at the Headmaster Porter Theatre.

More than 50 pupils from the senior years took part in Sir Alan Parker’s classic slapstick comedy as either cast or crew, accompanied by the accomplished pupil band.

Josh Butler (Bugsy), Coral Langridge (Blousey), Arthur Getting (Fat Sam), Will Donsworth (Dandy Dan), Millie Gibbons (Tallulah), Oscar Welsh (Fizzy) and Joss Easey (Knuckles) performed and sang the leading roles in impressive style, ably supported by many delightful cameo performances.

It culminated in a entertainingly sticky ending when custard pies were sprayed freely without consideration for life or limb.
