Rail travellers using the region’s mainline today should arrive at the station early as trains are to depart ahead of schedule to make up for slower running caused by engineering works.

Greater Anglia said CrossRail track works meant some lines are blocked between London Liverpool Street and Stratford today, affecting timetables.

Services, between Liverpool Street and Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester Town, Braintree, and Clacton, will depart Liverpool Street up to five minutes earlier than the standard timetable because of slower running between Liverpool Street and Stratford.

CrossRail is a 73-mile railway line being constructed to connect parts of London and the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex.

Separate overhead line renewal work taking place today also means all lines will be closed between Shenfield and Wickford all day, with a bus replacement service in operation.
