Staff at a north Essex supermarket were left “shaken but unharmed” after a robber threatened them with a suspected knife before making off with a three-figure sum of cash.

The robber entered the Co-op in High Street, Harwich, Dovercourt, shortly before 8pm last night, when the threats were made. He then left on foot in the direction of the Hangings public footpath, Essex police said.

The man is described as being white, 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a light blue hooded top, with a light coloured rip in the back, blue jeans and white and black trainers.

“Staff were left shaken but unharmed,” a spokesman for Essex Police said.

Anyone with any information about the alleged robbery in Harwich is asked to contact Dc David Brooks at Clacton CID by calling him on 101.

People are also invited to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
