The East Anglian Living History Fair returns to the Museum of East Anglian life this summer for another adventure-packed step back in time, taking visitors on a journey through 2,000 years of history over the weekend of August 12 and 13.

Organised in association with re-enactment specialists, Black Knight Historical, you’ll learn battle drills from the Romans, watch vicious Vikings rampaging, or have the opportunity to try medieval activities for all ages. More than 300 costumed performers bring the stunning 75 acre museum site alive, entertaining with falconry, archery and the very best re-enactment groups from across East Anglia.

Explore a half size Sutton Hoo ship, or prepare for battle with weaponry and armour talks. Meet Jason Salkey, Rifleman Harris from TV’s Sharpe or watch a medieval puppet show from Paul Spence. The Troubadours will be playing historic music, as well as showing off musical instruments from Roman to Renaissance times.

Discover more about D-Day from American WW2 re-enactors, or learn about the war a little closer to home with Suffolk at War. Performers will gather together for a grand parade at the end of each day too - a visual spectacular not to be missed!

It’s not all guts and glory though. Darcy’s Darlings and Sarah Stockdale on Jane Austen will make you feel like you’re watching your favourite period drama. Plus there’ll be historic food demonstrations and incredible storytelling to inspire imaginations of all ages! Not forgetting the unmissable Dr Digby Rocks who brings the world of historic discovery alive for children of all ages, as you dig for and handle real artefacts on an archaeological adventure.

“The East Anglian Living History Fair is a truly special event. Last year we saw our 75 acre site filled with re-enactors who have a real passion for their era and sharing that passion with visitors of all ages, which made the event a great success,” explains Patsy Cane, visitor services manager.

Discounted tickets are available in advance here priced at £12.50 for adults for a day or £22 for a weekend, £6.25 for children or £35 for a day or £50 for a weekend family ticket.
