An inaugural classic car show organised by West Suffolk College has been so popular it may become an annual event.
Organised by automotive students, it was held at the Bury St Edmunds campus on April 22 and featured 115 cars.
The West and Loud show attracted about 400 visitors who came along to enjoy the huge variety of vehicles, including singer Alma Cogan’s 1964 restored Rolls Royce, a Maserati, a TVR that appeared on Top Gear, a Ford Thunderbird, a Ferrari Mondial and a disabled drivers racing car.
The event was staged by Level 1 Automotive students and course director Leon Wilde in aid of the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS), which is the automotive students’ charity of the year. It is hoped £1,000 has been raised for the charity.
Rob Skinner, director of vocational skills development, said: “It’s the first time we have done it and it was excellent.”
