Nostalgia really does strike a nerve, as more than 9,000 members have now joined our Ipswich Remembers Facebook group. The group has reconnected long lost friends and childhood chums from across the last 70 years.

People from as far as Florida and Australia have been remembering their childhood days in Ipswich through a nostalgia group on Facebook.

The popular group, Ipswich Remembers, has now reached over 9,000 members and continually receives dozens of images from the past seven decades, detailing everything from first jobs in the town centre to favourite primary school teachers.

We’ve collected a variety of images from Ransomes & Rapier, one of the largest employers in the town during the 70s and 80s. The company produced large engineering equipment during the 60s and 70s and employed more than 300 staff.

Fans of Ipswich Town Football Club will also be happy to see a 1912/13 club photo from the team.
