Michael Houghton, of Vernon Street, Ipswich, said: “I hope he rots in hell. I hope he never comes out.

“He’s ruined my life.”

The 53-year-old was assaulted as a child by Hawes, formerly of Stratford Road and Hogarth Road, Ipswich.

Mr Houghton agreed to waive his anonymity in support of his foster sister Lorraine Garwood, 43, of Dombey Road, Ipswich.

The pair are desperate to ensure Hawes – a serial predator – remains in jail where he is serving a 10-year sentence for abusing them as children.

They fear the 73-year-old serial paedophile would target more youngsters if he was ever released.

Hawes was originally jailed for 18 years in 2006, but is eligible to apply for parole after his sentence was cut to 10 years in 2007.

Mr Houghton said in November 2007 one of his brothers had taken his own life as a result of what happened when they were young.

Mr Houghton said: “I am extremely upset to learn that Raymond Hawes, my stepfather, is due for parole. I am 100% behind my foster sister Lorraine in her quest to keep this monster in prison.

“My mother was married to Raymond and they fostered Lorraine as a small baby, when I was about 10 years old. My mother died in 2005

“It was in the 1970s and I was in my early teens and another victim of this evil predator. He took away my innocent childhood and it has haunted me ever since.

“I have suffered mental health issues and lived on anti-depressants since the death of my brother.

“In the early 1980s Hawes had already served five years for other cases of similar nature. The courts should have thrown the book at him then. He received a sentence of 18 years (in 2006), which was reduced on appeal to 10 years.

“We have lived with the knowledge that he is safely out of the way and can do no further harm to others, certainly to children. But to discover he is due for parole after a mere six years is, for me, disgusting.

“Living with this hell is not easy – the pain never goes away. Sometimes you can forget but then a little thing will trigger it off then all the hurt, the pain, the guilt comes to the surface.

“My parents took Lorraine into their home. They were in a position of trust but my stepfather chose to abuse it. None of us will ever forgive him for that.

“All I ask is that no other child ever goes through what we have been put through by this evil man. Despite his age I believe he will continue to prey on young children.

“Why let that happen? Are we such a naive society to think he has learnt his lesson? I don’t think so.”
