The Ipswich Sea Cadets based at Ipswich Docks have been given a boost with a financial donation from London Freemasons as part of its fundraising campaign.

The cadets, based in Helena Road, were presented with cheques for £650 by Steve Banks, a parent of one of the cadets on behalf of the Freemasons.

The money will join the funds being raised by the cadets for repairs on its base, which includes insulation and replacement of the leaking roof and windows.

A spokesman from the cadets said: “We are looking for support from local companies, building merchants, carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades and window suppliers,

“As a charity we heavily rely on donations so we are asking for your help.

“We are hoping Ipswich shows some local support and supports this great charity which provides a safe haven for young people teaching life skills.”
