A man has pleaded guilty to burgling a home in Halstead in Essex after a forensics investigation identified him through blood he left at the scene.
Christopher Raymond, 56, of no fixed address, admitted committing the burglary at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday, Thursday March 1.
He is due to be sentenced on Thursday, March 15.
On Monday, December 4, Raymond entered a house in Colchester Road while the victim was at work.
He left the property with jewellery worth a four-figure sum, a vacuum cleaner, a car key and a Christmas cake.
Investigating officer Dc Joanna Lewis, of Braintree CID, said: “Raymond targeted the property knowing it was empty, searched all the rooms inside and left with valuable items.
“The victim on her return from a day’s work quickly called us after discovering she had been burgled.
“We think Raymond possibly injured himself while breaking into the property and we successfully connected him to burglary through DNA left at the scene.”
