The incident in question is the murder of Dean Stansby, who was fatally stabbed on February 8.

Mr Stansby, aged 41 and from Trimley, was attacked in Ancaster Road.

The posters appeared this evening in the area near Ipswich’s railway station, asking for help from the public.

Under a picture of Mr Stansby and the date of the attack is the sentence: “Were you using a bus service in the area of Ancaster Road and Ranelagh Road, Ipswich between 6pm and 7pm.”

It also provides telephone numbers for Suffolk Constabulary and Crimestoppers.

In a tribute to Mr Stansby later that month, his brother Paul Stansby said: “He was larger than life and had the biggest heart, it is so hard that he has gone and in the way that he has. We would like to ask anyone who knows anything to call police. We are hurting and want answers.”

Call Suffolk Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 with any information.
