There are traffic delays on the A14 because a lorry has dropped a “shed load of stones” in the road.

Highways England is en route to the westbound carriageway just before Stowmarket to clear up the spilled gravel.

The incident was reported to Suffolk Constabulary at 11.50am and officers are on scene.

One lane of the road is currently closed.

No one is thought to have been injured as a result of the incident.

There are reports of long delays in the area, with traffic tailed back to Needham Market.

Highways England warned people through Twitter to approach the road with care.

The authority wrote: “Lane 1 clsd #A14 W/B btwn J51 + J50 due to shed load of stones in the road, @SuffolkPolice on scene. Delays back to J51, approach with care.”
