Ten-year-old Oscar Proctor is preparing for his big day in the spotlight next week when he leads the carnival procession in Wickhambrook.

Oscar, who lives in Rede, was chosen as the carnival prince at a special beach party hosted by Wickhambrook Primary Academy.

Freya Morris, aged seven, and eight-year-old Millie Juniper will be his two attendants. Oscar was crowned by last year’s carnival princess Megan Warnock.

During the Wickhambrook Carnival on Saturday, July 8, Oscar and his two attendants will ride in an open top car and lead a Disney-themed walking procession – along with the Sawston Youth Group Marching Band, a fire engine and classic cars.

The procession will leave from the school at 12.30pm and head around the village. It will then head back to the recreation ground where there will be attractions and a range of stalls, as well as a dog show.
