A man who died when he was hit by a car on a dual carriageway in Suffolk has been named by police.

Alexander Beck, 27 and from Sheffield, was struck by a car on the A14 westbound at Bury St Edmunds on Friday, July 14, at 2.40am.

It is not known why Mr Beck was walking on the 70mph road in the early hours of the morning.

The crash involved a blue Peugeot 306 and took place between junctions 43 and 42.

Police, ambulance crews and a volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service worked to help Mr Beck, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peugeot was unharmed.

The road was closed for a collision investigation to take place and reopened at around 7.15am.
