Prosecco-lovers in Ipswich are set to enjoy a festival dedicated to the fizz this November as the national Prosecco Festival comes to town for the first time.
Ipswich Town Hall will host the two-day extravaganza on November 3 and 4, and feature more than 40 brands on offer across both afternoon and evening sessions.
Fans of the drink can expect stations dedicated to prosecco, spumante, brut, pink fizz and even prosecco-based cocktails, while Peroni will be on offer for those who aren’t a fan of the fizz.
This year is the first time the event will be in Ipswich, with the weekend traditionally touring around 20 towns and cities in the country.
Jessica Rice, director of Prosecco Festival said: “We did a lot of research on the towns and cities across the UK which love fizz and Ipswich was up there with the best!
“Ipswich is really is well known for loving its fizz... so we’re all particularly excited for this event!
“Its bound to be a sell-out so get those tickets early.”
As well as a variety of proseccos, an array of Italian street food stalls have been arranged selling flatbreads and antipasti, while the evening sessions will feature live music entertainment from bands playing jazz and dance-floor fillers.
Standard entry is £9.50, which includes a branded prosecco flute ready to fill and entry to all the bars, stalls and live music.
The event runs on a token system where people can exchange their cash for tokens at various token points.
The festival is the latest in a string of top food and drink festivals to visit Ipswich this year, including two gin festivals and seven beer festivals.
An Ipswich Borough Council spokesman said: “We want to put the fizz into Ipswich.
“The Prosecco Festival is something different and should attract a new audience not only to Ipswich but also to the Town Hall and Corn Exchange.
“Along with an Oktoberfest event and the annual Christmas parties, the Town Hall / Corn Exchange complex also offers some great music events in the Grand Hall, vintage fairs and, of course, the popular Ipswich Film Theatre.”
