An annual charity fashion show has smashed all records by raising more than £10,000 for St Nicholas Hospice Care in one night.

With all the money for Fashion Fusion now collected and counted the charity, which cares for people across west Suffolk with long-term or life-limiting conditions, can reveal the final sum raised was £10,211.32.

Before the 2017 show, the annual event had raised a total of around £20,000 since it began in 2011.

Abby Mayes, corporate fundraiser, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who supported Fashion Fusion, from everyone who bought tickets, to all of our sponsors, The Apex, our retailers and all of those who worked behind the scenes to create such a fabulous event.

“We need to raise £11,000 everyday to be able to provide our services so to have raised just over £10,000 really is fantastic. Every single penny will make a huge difference to the people we help across the area.

“Thank you to Robinsons Mercedes, Arc Bury St Edmunds, BID Bury St Edmunds and Javelin for being event sponsors - without them it could not have gone ahead.”

The evening, the fifth of its kind, was hosted by The Apex, and took place on Friday, May 5.

It featured clothing and accessories from 10 retailers, which included Bohm and Bee, Dapper Fox, Palmers, Mistral, Nanook, Cabana, Javelin, Hobbs, Elizabeth Gash plus a selection of fashions from the hospice’s retail shops.

Students from West Suffolk College also took part with a variety of garments they had designed.
