A Chrysler PT Cruiser crashed into the Thai Pavilion Restaurant in Friars Street, Sudbury, today (April 28).

The car, driven by an older lady, hit the front of the restaurant at the junction of Station Road.

It has smashed the shop window glass and damaged the door.

The building, which also houses the Nanook shop, has been hit by vehicles in the past, with four lorries damaging the property in just two years.

The incident happened at 2.25pm, with the car careering across the path and into the restaurant, which was just about to close to customers.

Mr Edwards said: “The car just ran straight into the window of the shop. It just keeps happening, I don’t know if the business will survive at the moment.

“It was an older lady, and she is okay but was very shaken.”

Suffolk police confirmed they attended the incident. A spokesman said the driver is okay, with an ambulance attending just as a precaution.

The car was removed and the road reopened by 3pm.
