A series of overnight closures in Colne Bank Avenue, in Colchester, are planned for this week.
The road – which is being widened to two lanes – will be closed from May 24 to May 26, with May 27 reserved as a contingency, between 8pm and 5am.
It’s one of a number of improvement projects proposed to improve sustainable transport links to the town centre and reduce congestion along the A133 corridor.
Colne Bank Avenue is a particular pinch-point for traffic on the A133, and the work is funded by the £24.9million Local Growth Fund for Colchester.
A shared footway and cycleway will also be installed on its southern side, with works also to Temple Bridge and Temple Subway.
The scheme will tie in with the introduction of developer-funded slip lanes at Colne Bank roundabout and proposed widening of Cowdray Avenue and Westway.
