Three Suffolk artists have collaborated on an exhibition inspired by the human form – including a series dedicated to a missing man from the county.
The “From Life” exhibition opened on Saturday at the Ephemeral Gallery in Saxmundham High Street featuring recent paintings by Ruth Purchase, Jack Stephenson and Colin Slee.
The artists bring different perspectives on life drawing, which for some is a departure from their regular work.
Slee, whose previous work is described as an “expressive response to the environment” produced a series dedicated to David Wood, a Woodbridge man, who went missing in France last year. “For 18 years prior to this event, figures have never featured in my work,” he said. “Suddenly, and unconsciously, after this event they did.”
Purchase, whose work is often abstract, said she wanted to create “a sense of dimension” in her drawing.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, December 17.
