The prison informed officers at about 1am on Saturday that Connor Shand, 22, who was serving six years for aggravated burglary, had failed to return – it is thought he could now be in the Harlow area.

Essex Police made checks at two possible addresses he might have been staying at but he could not be found.

Both Suffolk and Essex police forces have been following up inquiries in a bid to locate him.

Shand is 6ft 2ins, of thin build, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He also has a scar to the top of his forehead.

Anyone who sees Shand is asked to call police on 101 and not to approach him.

Police are also renewing an appeal to trace Jak Marku, 25, who was serving a nine year and six month sentence for importing cocaine.

He was given home leave to go to an address in Southall, Middlesex, but he failed to return to the prison when he was due to, on March 4. He is now thought to be in the Smethwick/Birmingham area.

Call police on 101 with information.
